Live stand-up comedy is everywhere. You'll need a map.

Every night, comedians are stepping onto stages in theatres, clubs, pubs, bars, festivals and rooms you may never have even heard of. Some are local shows happening near you — perhaps at a pub just around the corner. Others are waiting in a city you’re visiting next month.

GiggleMaps has one objective: put live comedy on the map and make it easier for you to find.

Search for comedy near you. Search where you’re going. See what’s happening tonight, this weekend or further down the road. Find a comedian you already love, discover someone you’ve never heard of, or follow a pin somewhere simply because it is worth the laugh.

Live comedy wherever you are… whenever you’re there.

Why GiggleMaps?

A single city can have major venues, independent comedy rooms, open mics, touring shows, festival programs and one-off events happening at the same time. Information about those shows naturally lives in lots of different places too — with comedians, venues, promoters, festivals and ticketing platforms.

GiggleMaps brings all of that activity together in a single hub — because while all roads may lead to Rome, they don't all lead to the show you want to see.

Instead of needing to know exactly what you're searching for, you can start with something you already know.

Where you are.

Find your kind of funny

Maybe you're looking for something to do tonight. Last-minute date, perhaps.

Maybe you're travelling and want to know what comedy looks like in another city.

Maybe you've just started performing and you're looking for open mics and rooms where you can get on stage.

Maybe you're touring and want audiences in an unfamiliar town to know you've arrived.

Maybe you run a weekly comedy night, manage a venue, promote shows or have an entire festival program you want people to explore.

GiggleMaps knows that it's not just people looking for comedy. Comedy is looking for people, too.

How it started

GiggleMaps began with a question that had been floating around for a while:

Why can't you just see where the comedy is?

The idea became harder to ignore after a conversation on a long drive home. We were talking about travelling, finding comedy in unfamiliar places and just how useful a map of live comedy could actually be.

Eventually, somebody said it:

“I'd use that.”

So we built it.

It wasn't supposed to answer every question. We were just trying to create enough to find out whether the idea worked.

Then came one of the earliest real-world tests only days later. Someone travelling in the United States opened GiggleMaps, found shows where they were going, bought tickets and went to not one but two of them.

They looked.

They found.

They went.

And that was enough to keep going.

The more GiggleMaps grew, the more uses for it appeared.

Put yourself on the map

GiggleMaps works better when the people who make live comedy are part of it.

Comedians can create profiles and connect themselves with their shows. Venues and organisers can contribute events en masse. Comedy clubs, promoters and festivals can make their programs easier to explore. And audiences get a richer map of what's actually happening around them.

It means a pin on GiggleMaps can lead somewhere much bigger: a comedian, a venue, a ticket, a new room, a night out, or perhaps the beginning of somebody's own start in comedy.

And we're still mapping.

There are more cities to explore, more rooms to discover, more comedians to meet and a considerably bigger world of comedy than will ever fit neatly onto one page.

Fortunately, we have the maps.
